The China General Chamber of Commerce in Nigeria (CGCCN) said on Monday that more than 100 companies would participate in the China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo in Abuja.

A statement on Monday by Mr. Zhang Ji, Secretary of CGCCN, indicated that the expo will be held from Nov. 28 to Nov. 30.

The statement further indicated that the expo—the second in a series to hold in Africa after an earlier one held in Nairobi early this year—will be held at the Abuja Trade and Convention Centre with the theme “China and Africa Joining Hands for a Better Future.”

According to Zhang, more than eight agencies affiliated with Hunan Province in China and the Nigerian Trade Agency making up the organising committee of the event announced that the expo will feature a series of activities across multiple sectors.

The activities are investment, trade, infrastructure, healthcare, and engineering machinery forums, among others.

The chamber added that the forum will highlight the opportunities and challenges in China-Africa infrastructure cooperation, facilitating in-depth discussions on critical topics such as infrastructure connectivity, innovative investment, and financing models, among a few other perspectives.

“The forum aims to bring together stakeholders for meaningful exchanges and cooperation, promoting the signing and implementation of key projects.

“The exhibition will feature nine distinct areas, highlighting products in: New energy, Architecture (building hardware), Machinery (construction machinery & agricultural equipment), power transmission and transformation),

“Home appliances and furniture, manufacturing, pan-infrastructure, circular economy, and comprehensive area.”.

Zhang affirmed that the third session of the China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo (CAETE), held in Changsha, Hunan, in June 2023, covered 100,000 square meters and resulted in 120 signed projects valued at 10.3 billion dollars.

No fewer than 1,700 exhibitors, business associations, and financial institutions from China and Africa participated in the event in 2023.

In May 2024, the inaugural China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo held in Africa took place in Nairobi, resulting in 43 signed projects worth 1.402 billion dollars.
