Traders engage brisk business as Nigerians cast votes

Some traders in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), on Saturday took advantage of the Presidential and National Assembly elections to make brisk business.

One of the traders, who sell yam chips and bean cake, said she was at the polling unit to ensure that voters were energised enough to vote.

The trader, who did not mention her name, further said it was an avenue for her to also make some money.

“This is not my first time of selling during elections.

“From past experiences, I make more sales during elections than on a normal day and I hope this year will be same if not better.

“One of the reasons I do that is that only a few businesses are open to customers.

“So, voters do not have a choice than to patronise the few of us that are selling,’’ she said.

Supreme reports that some of the voters and party agents, who patronised the trader, said they decided to do so because it was going to be a long day.

Supreme reports that while most shops that deal in provision were locked, a few that opened had huge patronage.
