A Shari’a Court sitting in Rigasa, Kaduna State on Thursday ordered a businessman, Nasiru Hamza to pay N23,500 in back child support and medication.

Delivering a ruling, the judge, Malam Salisu-Tureta,  held that N15,000 was for the three months the defendant failed to pay for his child’s support and N8,500 for medication.

“The defendant shall continue to pay N5,000 monthly allowance for his child’s feeding and also provide a hospital where the child can be taken to whenever he is sick,” he held.

Salisu-Tureta had earlier asked if Hamza would swear with the Qur’an that he did not taken any of his former wife’s belongings and he said he would.

The judge adjourned the matter until Feb. 1 for the defendant to swear

Earlier, Karimatu Tasiu, told court that she only received N6,000 from Hamza since their divorce in September 2020.

She also prayed court to assist her recover some items from the defendant alleging that he took them when he divorced her. The defendant denied the claims, saying he had not taken any of her belongings.
