Bauchi: Police detain 2,322 suspects, recover 30 rifles

The Police Command in Bauchi State, says it has apprehended 2,322 suspects for various offences in the last one year.

The command recorded 1,182 cases; recovered stolen vehicles, arms and ammunitions during various operations within the period under review.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Awwal Musa said this at a news conference on Monday in Bauchi.

He said operatives of the command recovered 23 AK-47 Rifles, four G-3 Rifles, three SMG Rifles, 746 live ammunitions and 32 magazines as well as N22 million.

Musa said the cases included 73 Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV), while 18 personnel had been sanctioned for professional misconduct.

He lauded the state government, security agencies and residents of the state for their support and cooperation to the police.

“We appeal to the public to continue providing timely and accurate information to aid our efforts in ensuring peace and security in the state.”

Musa also commended officers and men of the command for their dedication and commitment towards protection of lives and property in the state.
