Ajayi Crowther University (ACU), Oyo in Oyo State, says it will commence the issuance of triple certificates to its 2,679 graduating students at its forthcoming 16th convocation ceremony.

ACU Vice-Chancellor (VC), Prof. Timothy Adebayo, disclosed this in Oyo town on Monday at a news conference heralding the convocation ceremony.

The VC said the triple certification system would increase the personality and professional qualities of its graduates, while also improving the lot of students with deep insights and field research.

“This amazing policy ensures that a student admitted into a programme will graduate with the bachelor’s certificate with respect to the programme upon maturity.

“Also, within the same time frame, students will earn two more certificates for which they must have had adequate training.

“The two other certificates are the Mind Education certificate and an Entrepreneurship Training certificate,” said the VC.

He described the triple certification system as an unprecedented achievement in the history of tertiary education in the nation.

“In turn, the amazing policy will boost our graduates’ easy employability and propensity for entrepreneurship,” he said.

The VC said the forthcoming convocation would see 86 students bagging the First-Class Honours degrees and 1,230 students earning Second-Class Honours (Upper) degrees.

He added that 560 and 61 students would be bagging the Second-Class Honours (Lower) and Third-Class degrees respectively.

In the postgraduate category, the VC announced 742 of 82 awardees of Postgraduate Diplomas and 660 awardees of various Master’s degrees.

“This is opposed to 974 undergraduate students and 594 postgraduate students in last year’s convocation,” Adebayo said.

The VC noted that security had been beefed up within the campus with a security system of four layers.

According to him, security agents monitor the campus with CCTV cameras installed at the campus’ various hostels and corners.

“Miscreants cannot enter this campus,” Adebayo said.

He recounted the institution’s achievements and collaboration with other universities within and outside Nigeria, noting that funding remained one of the greatest challenges of any Nigerian university.
