A Lagos lawmaker, Mr. Adewale Temitope, says 50 outstanding public school students are beneficiaries of his scholarship scheme.

The lawmaker said he had also facilitated the admission of 857 students into various tertiary institutions across the country.

Adewale, representing Ifako-Ijaiye I at the Lagos State House of Assembly, made this known at the distribution of 250 GCE forms to another set of beneficiaries on Thursday.

Adewale said the scholarship was to support indigent students of the constituency in the pursuit of their educational endeavours by awarding scholarships to deserving students.

The lawmaker said his goal in Ifako-Ijaiye Constituency 1 was to make the local government the most educated in Nigeria in the near future.

“We are on the right track to achieve this, and I once again assure you that I remain committed to this goal.

“Currently, 615 adults are in adult education programs. It is exciting to note that out of this figure, 50 outstanding adults have been registered for the NECO exams.

“We have also renovated the Ogundimu Primary School, the Fagba Junior Grammar School complex, and the Bishop Oluwole Complex School at Ifako-Ijaiye in the state.

“Beside these, some weeks ago, we gave out thousands of school materials and books to pupils and students and facilitated employment for qualified residents of the constituency.

“These are all done under the Adewale Temitope Adedeji Educational Initiatives (ATA-EI), which has metamorphosed into a foundation,” he said.

Adewale said he had also distributed over 4,000 JAMB forms and another 1,200 GCE forms to students within the constituency with free tutorial classes for a total of 8,716 candidates for the examinations so far.

He advised the beneficiaries of the GCE forms to be serious with their studies and be successful in their exams.

Supreme News reports that Adewale, popularly known as Jay, is the Chairman, House Committee on Transportation.
