Yuletide: Kwara Govt. approves free transport for returning undergraduates

Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara has directed the Ministry of Business Innovation and Technology to provide additional free buses as palliative for students returning after Christmas and New Year holidays.

The Commissioner, Damilola Yusuf,

disclosed this in a statement issued to newsmen in Ilorin on Monday.

Yusuf stated that the gesture was intended to ease the burden of high transportation cost on the students of Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete and University of Ilorin (UNILORIN).

He explained that the directive was specifically meant for all the registered students of KWASU and UNILORIN, returning to their respective campuses.

He stated that the buses would be stationed at Queen Elizabeth Secondary School, Taiwo and Soludero Parks at the Post Office, Ilorin.

The Commissioner further affirmed the State Government’s commitment to supporting the citizens’ educational pursuit, adding that the measure was a demonstration of the governor’s good intentions.

He advised the returning students to take advantage of the opportunity and report to their campuses on time.

“The gesture is a special measure, specifically put in place for the students,” the statement added.
