Local media reported that at least 50 guests at a wedding in the province of Kirkuk in northern Iraq were poisoned by contaminated food.
The event, according to the report, took place in the town of Hawija, west of Kirkuk, the name-province's capital.
Ziyad Khalaf, the provincial health director, claimed that some of the illnesses were minor while others were critical.
He continued by saying that all of the patients had gotten the required medical care in the hospital.
The incident happened the day after a fatal fire tore through a wedding hall in a town that is primarily Christian in Iraq's northern province of Nineveh, killing 114 people and wounding more than 200.
