Shamies Unusual Hearts Foundation, an NGO, says it is planning to build prisons cells to decongest prisons across the country.
The Founder and Executive Director of the NGO, Miss Serah Abdul, disclosed this on Friday in Abuja.
Abdul said that the primary purpose of the foundation was to campaign for reforms that would strengthen the justice system and decongest prisons across the country.
“It is the dream of the foundation to build prison cells to help government in the process of decongestion of prisons.
“Apart from that, we do medical supplies to prisons and we shall continue to do that. All these are to help government and that is something I would love to continue doing.
“We provide first aid and give malaria drugs and other forms of medication.
“We conduct medical diagnosis/test for HIV, hepatitis, malaria and others to help prisoners know their health status and send medications to those that really need them,’’ she said.
Supreme reports that Shamies Unsual Heart Foundation in 2020 bailed about 58 prison inmates in 12 states of the federation, by paying the fines courts gave them as options which they could not pay then.
