Rep. Benjamin Kalu, Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives on Wednesday called on African Union Commission for fairness and equity in the allocation and handling of issues among member states.

Mr Levinus Nwabughiogu, Chief Press Secretary to Kalu, quoted him to have made the appeal at a Joint Orientation Workshop for Financial Affairs of the Pan-African Parliament (PAP) at Midrand, South Africa.

Supreme news reports that the Pan-African Parliament, also known as the African Parliament, is the legislative body of the African Union.

Kalu, who did not mention any particular case, urged the Commission to revisit its decisions and ensure fair treatment for all member states.

He expressed concerns over African Union Commission’s handling of appeals emanating from certain issues.

“I’m saying fairness, equity for everyone, who is supposed to get slots, either by contributions or geography should have it.

“If there is a Nigerian, who wants to be anything, you should not tell him no. So, it’s equality for all,” he said.

The Deputy Speaker warned that as long as there was a gap for an appeal to take place, it would be wrong for the execution of a decision to be in place.

Kalu reiterated the need to review certain decisions of the commission that tend to undermine equality.
