Lawyer advocates rehabilitation centres to curb social vices
"This will help rehabilitate those who are mentally disturbed and people who engage in social vices can be easily reformed and corrected before things get worse."
An Ilorin-based lawyer, Mr Ahmed Aliyu, has advised government at all levels to establish more rehabilitation centres to help curb social vices in the country.
In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ilorin on Friday, Aliyu said that establishment of rehabilitation centres would help reform traumatised citizens who need behavioural adjustments.
” Government at all levels should not hesitate to invest on rehabilitation centers.
“This will help rehabilitate those who are mentally disturbed and people who engage in social vices can be easily reformed and corrected before things get worse.
“People with alcohol, drug addiction and related issues can be treated at the rehabilitation centers before they inflict uncontrollable pain and damage on the society,” he said.
The lawyer added that social vices like prostitution, robbery, cultism, drug addiction, examination malpractices, fraud, rape and inappropriate dressing pollute the society.
He, however, called on the populace and Non Government Organisations to support the government in tackling social vices in the society.
Aliyu advised the populace and NGOs not to leave everything to government, rather they should support it to reform society and make Nigeria great.
