3 men docked for alleged contempt of court

Three men, Kunle Ojofeyitimi, Joseph Fasemire and Oladipo Ilesanmi, on Wednesday appeared before an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court, for alleged contempt of court and breach of peace.

The defendants, Ojofeyitimi, 52, Fasemire, 38 and Ilesanmi, 52, are standing trial on a four-count charge of conspiracy, damage, breach of peace and contempt of court

The prosecutor, Cpl. Akeem Akinloye, told the court that the defendants allegedly conspired and committed the offences on Nov. 4, at Akota Estate off Elebu area of Ibadan.

He said that the defendants disrespected court judgment in suit number I/ 671/1969, by forcibly entering a land after judgment had been executed.

He said the defendants unlawfully damaged padlock and chains valued at N200,000, belonging to Mr Azeez Kazeem.

According to the prosecutor, the defendants conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by entering a land without lawful authority.

He said the offences contravened Sections 133 (9), 249 (d), 451 and 517 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Olabisi Ogunkanmi, admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N100,000 each with two sureties each in like sum.

Ogunkanmi , thereafter, adjourned the case until March 18, 2025 for hearing
