Court remands fake doctor over alleged murder of patient

Adegoke Olaoluwa, of Idi-Aro area of Ibadan, is facing a count charge of murder.

An Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court remanded a 45-year-old fake doctor, Adegoke Olaoluwa, on Monday for allegedly causing the death of his patient.

The Magistrate, Mrs. A.T. Oyediji, who did not take the defendant’s plea, ordered that he be remanded in the Agodi correctional facility in Ibadan, pending legal advice from the Office of the Oyo State Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP).

Supreme News reports that Olaoluwa, of the Idi-Aro area of Ibadan, is facing a count of murder.

Earlier, the Police Prosecutor, Insp. Opeyemi Olagunju, told the court that the defendant had, on Feb. 20, at about 10 a.m., at Mercy Clinic and Maternity, Idi-Aro, Ibadan, unlawfully caused the death of one Adekunle Badmus, 45.

Olagunju said that the defendant administered saline drugs to the patient without lawful justification.

The offence, according to the prosecutor, is contrary to Section 316 and punishable under Sections 319 and 484 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

Supreme News reports that while Section 484 stipulates three years of imprisonment for an offender, Section 319 prescribes a death sentence.
