Man docked for alleged bigamy

A 40 – year-old man, Peter Ajabor was docked in an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court Ibadan, on Friday over alleged bigamy.

The defendant , whose address was not given, is charged with bigamy and breach of peace.


The prosecution counsel, Cpl. Akeem Akinloye told the court that Ologbese got married legally to one Oluwatoyin Asani on Oct.24, 2015 .


Akinloye said the defendant again on July 4, 2018, allegedly got married to one Chikodiri Akajiofor unlawfully without dissolving the first marriage.


He said the defendant conducted himself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by getting married legally to two women.


Akinloye said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 249 (d) and 370 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000.


The defence counsel, Mrs O. A. Okeke, prayed the court to admit her client to bail in the most liberal term .


The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.


The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Olabisi Ogunkanmi admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Ogunkanmi adjourned the matter until Feb. 26, 2025, for hearing.
