Excitement as Dangote refinery gets first million barrels of crude
"Dangote Petroleum Refinery is capable of fulfilling Nigeria's entire demand for refined products, including aviation jets, diesel, petrol, and kerosene, in addition to having an excess of each of these items for export."
Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals Plant has purchased one million barrels of Agbami crude grade from Shell International Trading and Shipping Company Limited, STASCO.
"One million barrels of crude oil from Agbami were contained in the STASCO cargo, which sailed to Dangote Refinery's Single Point Mooring (SPM) and was discharged into the refinery's tanks," the refinery said in a statement obtained by Vanguard.
"The initial one million barrels, constituting the preliminary stage of the six million barrels of crude oil that will be supplied to Dangote Petroleum Refinery from various suppliers, are expected to support the facility's daily processing capacity of three hundred thousand barrels."
"All six cargoes will be supplied by ExxonMobil in the final two to three weeks after the NNPC delivers the remaining four cargoes."
"This provision will support the initial operation of the refinery and initiate the manufacturing processes for aviation fuel, diesel, and LPG prior to commencing production of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS)."
"This most recent advancement will be instrumental in mitigating the fuel supply difficulties that Nigeria and the West African nations are currently experiencing."
Additionally, the refinery declared: "The 650,000-barrel-per-day Dangote Petroleum Refinery, which is designed to process 100% Nigerian crude but is also capable of handling other types of crude, is capable of processing the majority of African crude grades, Middle Eastern Arab light, and even US light tight oil, in addition to crude from other nations."
"Dangote Petroleum Refinery is capable of fulfilling Nigeria's entire demand for refined products, including aviation jets, diesel, petrol, and kerosene, in addition to having an excess of each of these items for export."
"Constructed to receive crude through its two SPMs situated at a distance of 25 kilometres from the shore, the refinery is capable of discharging petroleum products via three distinct SPMs."
In addition, the vehicle loading gantries at the refinery have the capacity to load 2,900 trucks per day.
"The Dangote Refinery possesses an autonomous marine facility that is capable of managing the largest vessel in the world." Moreover, every product originating from the refinery will adhere to Euro V standards.
"The refinery is designed to comply with emission and effluent standards set forth by the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), the European Union, the US EPA, and the African Refiners and Distribution Association (ARDA)."
Aliko Dangote, president of the Dangote Group, expressed his elation at the organization's accomplishment of this momentous milestone: "
This demonstrates our capability to plan and execute substantial capital projects, which is a significant accomplishment for our nation. In the following months, we will concentrate on bringing the refinery up to full capacity.
"Delivering the initial batch of products to the Nigerian market is eagerly anticipated as the next major milestone approaches."
In a similar vein, Mr. Osagie Okunbor, the Country Chairman of Shell Companies in Nigeria, expressed his satisfaction at facilitating the inauguration of a refinery specialising in the production of diesel, petrol, and low-sulphur fuels for the Nigerian market and the entirety of West Africa.
