Mr Uche Nnaji, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) has tasked directors and heads of agencies of the ministry to be result oriented, proactive and enthusiastic.

The minister gave the task at the official handing over ceremony by James Sule, Permanent Secretary of the ministry to him in Abuja on Tuesday.

“Our leadership in innovation will contribute to the prosperity of our great nation, we are here to innovate, not to merely follow routines.

“Our swift and inventive actions will define us as a ministry driven by innovation,’’ he said.

Nnaji, who was sworn in on Monday alongside 44 other ministers by President Bola Tinubu, said that decisions must align with the ministry’s goals, while optimizing resources for projects that delivered tangible results.

The minister noted that he was aware of few existing policies and strategic documents of the ministry, particularly the National Science, Technology and Innovation Policy.

“Therefore, I expect briefings from the Directors and Director Generals on the implementation of this policy in their respective departments and agencies,’’ he said.

Nnaji maintained that the ministry was poised to guide the nation into knowledge based new world economy as history showed that no nation could progress without a foundation routed in knowledge, science and innovation.

“I am therefore happy to be here with you to achieve these goals and objectives of the ministry and its affiliated agencies.

“Strong collaboration between the ministry and agencies is vital, let’s unite and work together for shared objectives through effective communication,’’ the minister said.
