The management of Nigeria National League (NNL) side Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) Football Club of Ilorin on Monday asked Head Coach Sani Sarduana to step aside.

Tosh Michael, the club’s Media Officer, disclosed in a statement that Taofeeq Babatunde has been asked to take over as Interim Head Coach, pending further directives.

Supreme news reports that this development emerged during the club’s management meeting held on Monday and presided over by the club’s Director of Football, Alloy Chukwuemeka.

Michael said, apart from several key decisions taken regarding the future of the club, the team was also going to embark on a short mid-season break with immediate effect.

“The break is scheduled to last until March 10,” he added.

Michael also explained that Salaudeen Adeyinka has been drafted in as Assistant Coach in the club, while the management equally decided to retain only 23 players from the current squad.

“This decision is aimed at restructuring and strengthening the team for the remainder of the season.”

He added that the club management has additionally taken a firm stance on players who have absconded from the club without approved permission.

“It has been affirmed that none of these players will be allowed to return to the club on ground of indiscipline.

“The Management wishes to assure our loyal fans and supporters that these decisions have been made in the best interest of the club.

“We are committed to rebuilding and strengthening our team to achieve greater success in the future,” the spokesman said.
