Newly appointed GM pledges to rescue Insurance FC from relegation

The General Manager of Bendel Insurance FC of Benin, Roland Abu, has vowed to steer the team out of relegation in the ongoing Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
Abu made the pledge on Tuesday in Benin during an interview with the News men, shortly after the official unveiling of the club’s new management team.
He emphasised the club’s commitment to strengthening its squad and improving performance in the second half of the season.
“They are battling relegation and we want to make sure we remove them from the relegation zone, so that they can be in a safe position.
“We are doing some recruitment; we are screening players now because we want to fortify the team. We will fix them into the team during the second round of the league,” he said.
Earlier in his address, Dennis Idahosa, Deputy Governor of Edo, said the event underscored the state government’s commitment to sports development.
Idahosa reaffirmed the government’s dedication to revitalise the state’s football clubs to foster talent development.
“The appointment of a substantive Head Coach for Bendel Insurance Football Club, as well as Edo Queens Football Club, are testaments to the government’s commitment to repositioning these teams for efficient service delivery,” he said.
The deputy governor highlighted the administration’s efforts to prioritise the welfare of athletes and also ensure they receive the support needed to excel.
“Since the inauguration of the present administration, we have continued to prioritise the welfare of sports men and women.
“This has crystallised in sustaining the achievements Edo State has recorded in sporting activities, a trajectory that must be sustained,” he said.
The deputy governor urged the new technical team to work collaboratively to improve the clubs’ performance.
