23-year Olubodun did not participate in senior executive course – NIPSS
Adeyanju said that Olubodun, an indigene of Oyo State only attended one of its short courses, which lasted for one month.
The National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, near Jos, has denied media report that a 23-year-old Ayomide Olubodun, participated in its Senior Executive Course (SEC).
Prof. Sola Adeyanju, Head, Public Affairs Department of the institute denied report in a statement on Monday in Jos.
Adeyanju said that Olubodun, an indigene of Oyo State only attended one of its short courses, which lasted for one month.
”The attention of the National Institute has been drawn to a story published in some section of the media that a ’23-year-old Oyo Indigene becomes youngest alumni of NIPSS’.
”The story which appeared in the media on Saturday, December 9, is misleading and has caused confusion among stakeholders
”Ayomide Olubodun only participated in one of the short courses run by the Institute, which normally lasts for one month.
”However, the news report gave an erroneous impression that Olubodun attended the prestigious ten-month SEC leading to the award of Member of the National Institute (mni).
”The headline of the story is misleading, as it did not differentiate between the short course and the flagship SEC in the Institute,”he said
Adeyanju added that there is only one united Alumni Association of the National Institute (AANI), adding that participants of the short courses do not belong.
He advised the media to take note of the difference between the short courses and the SEC in the Institute in their future stories.
”Participants of the short courses at NIPSS are also advised to be mindful of how they use the media on stories concerning the Institute.
”All distinguished AANI members are also advised not to be bothered about the misleading story,”
