Breaking: Declare State of Emergency; Rivers state at ‘war’, APC tells FG
The governor and the police are impotent.
The Rivers State All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership on Wednesday urged the federal government to impose a state of emergency in the state.
Chief Tony Okocha, Caretaker Committee Chairman of the PDP in Rivers, made the demand during a media briefing in Port Harcourt shortly after Governor Siminalayi Fubara inaugurated the Caretaker Committee for the state's 23 Local Government Areas.
He stated, "Rivers State is at war." And the dramatis personae responsible for the mayhem that has claimed lives have been identified. "The governor and the police are impotent. As a result, the APC in Rivers State has declared a state of emergency in order to quell the mayhem and uprising that is now taking place in the state. I urge the federal government to act quickly in this regard.
The federal government can declare a state of emergency in the event of a natural disaster, civil unrest, armed conflict, medical pandemic, epidemic, or other biosecurity threat.
Details will be published later.
