Burna Boy songs gives me inspiration - U.S.-based Nigerian Wrestler
Mutawa said he drew inspiration to represent Nigeria from one of his best friends, a Serbian, who won medals and went places making his country and family proud.
A U.S.-based Nigerian wrestler, Ashton Mutuwa, has said that the songs of Nigerian music sensation Burna Boy keep him going whenever he needs inspiration.
Mutuwa disclosed this in an interview with the newsmen on Tuesday in Paris, France.
“Everybody just go crazy when Burna Boy comes on, I love his music, whenever I need a big lift or motivate myself during workout, I listen to him.
“He is my favourite musician,” Mutuwa said.
He said that Daniel Igali, President of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation (NWF), and his coach, Victor Okorie, all have the qualities and experience to impact their athletes positively.
Mutuwahas only visited Nigeria twice, once in January for the national trials and again in March.
He said his favourite foods were jollof rice and egusi soup, which he said could go with anything.
Mutawa said he drew inspiration to represent Nigeria from one of his best friends, a Serbian, who won medals and went places, making his country and family proud.
“He was a world champion in 2023 for Serbia; he was representing his country, making his family proud. I thought it was a good idea to do it for myself,” Mutuwa said.
Supreme News reports that Mutuwa is the only male wrestler for Nigeria at the Olympics and will take to the mat on Thursday, Aug. 9, for his first bout.
