He added that the appointment of the former Commissioner for Finance in Lagos State as finance minister and coordinator of the economy would help to rapidly transform Nigeria’s economy.
Managing Director of African Development Studies Centre, Amb. Victor Oluwafemi, has commended President Bola Tinubu’s appointment of Mr Wale Edun as Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Thursday, Oluwafemi described Edun as of a seasoned economist and a reputable investment banker.
He added that the appointment of the former Commissioner for Finance in Lagos State as finance minister and coordinator of the economy would help to rapidly transform Nigeria’s economy.
The managing director noted that Edun demonstrated capabilities when within eight years he transformed the economy of Lagos State in active collaboration with the then Gov. Bola Tinubu.
Edun’s many accomplishments at the World Bank are noteworthy, Oluwafemi also noted.
“Edun has done it at a micro level in Lagos State and he can deliver at the federal level which definitely is at macro level.
“Edun as minister of finance definitely has all it takes to help to galvanise the Nigerian economy to greater heights,’’ he stressed.
Oluwafemi stated also that Edun’s expertise and experience in economic management and transformation had been exemplary.
He added that Edun’s character, competence, capacity, ingenuity, and professionalism contributed to raising Lagos State’s Internally Generated Revenue from a paltry N600 million annually to billions of Naira between 1999 and 2007.
“Edun will help to invigorate the “Renewed Hope’’ agenda of President Tinubu to prosperity for all.
“He will help to sustain economic development thereby enhancing welfare, wellbeing, and wellness of the masses,’’ Oluwafemi stated.
He added that Edun’s background in merchant banking, economics and finance and development at the sub-national, national and international levels were great assets for speedy recovery of the Nigerian economy.
Until his appointment as minister, Edun was the Chair of Chapel Hill Denham Group, a leading investment bank in Lagos State.
