The Plateau Government says that the curfew earlier imposed on Jos-Bukuru metropolis has not been relaxed.

Mr Gyang Bere, the Director of Press and Public Affairs (DOPPA) to Gov. Caleb Mutfwang, stated this in a statement on Wednesday in Jos.

Bere was reacting to fake news making the rounds in social media that the curfew had been relaxed.

According to the fake news, the time for free movement had been revised to between 6:00 . and 10:00 p.m.

But the DOPPA maintained that free movement within the affected areas would remain between 7:00 a.m and 7:00 p.m.

”Government wishes to clarify that there is no further relaxation of the curfew currently in force.

”Contrary to a false statement being circulated by certain individuals, the curfew remains as previously announced.

”Residents are hereby reminded that movement is permitted only between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., as directed by the governor.

”The public is advised to disregard any misleading information and to adhere strictly to the stipulated curfew hours,” he said.

Supreme News reports that the governmentimposed a curfew imposed a curfew on Sunday, Aug. 4, following the looting of public and private assets by some hoodlums in Jos North Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.

The miscreants hijacked the nationwide ”End Bad Governance” protest to perpetrate the criminal acts; hence, the curfew was imposed to forestall further destruction of lives and property.

Supreme News, however, recalls that the 24-hour curfew was later reviewed based on the improved security situation in the affected areas, reflecting the current timing for free movement.
