Nollywood actor John Okafor, also known as D, recently had surgery to remove one of his legs in order to keep him alive.

On Monday, details about this development were released on his official Instagram account, realmribu.

"As of 1 pm, noon today, Daddy has gone through 7 successful surgeries but to keep him alive and increase his chances of recovery one of his legs had to be amputated.," the statement went on to say in part.

"This development has been hard on us all but we've had to accept it as Daddy's new reality to keep him alive."

The actor's family has also asked Nigerians to support him.

"We are still seeking assistance from benevolent Nigerians at this time; Daddy is in a critical condition and requires every bit of support he can receive."

"The Okafor family is extremely appreciative, and we do not take your support for granted," said the group. As soon as Daddy regains his stability, he will cordially thank each individual who provided support throughout this difficult moment.

As per Mr. Ibu's account, he had been hospitalised for several weeks, during which the medical professionals advised that if their subsequent course of action failed, amputation of his limb would be necessary.

"I've been in a deep depression for weeks. While we converse, I am still in the hospital, where all I can hope for is your assistance and prayers. "According to the medical director of this hospital, if his new idea fails, the most viable alternative would be to amputate my leg," he advised.
