Aviation Institute matriculates 13 pioneer students
Edeh acknowledged the high cost of studying aeronautics and appealed to Nigerians to support scholarship scheme to enable more students, who have the talent and skills but lacked the resources, to pursue their dream in aviation.
The Eastwing Aviation Institute, Emene,7 Enugu, has advised its pioneer students to be good ambassadors of the institute, upholding its values of integrity, professionalism, and innovation.
The Founder of the institute, Dr Christopher Edeh, gave the advice at the institute’s maiden matriculation on Wednesday.
Edeh said that the event marked a significant milestone in the history of the first private aviation school in Nigeria.
“Today, we gather to formally welcome and induct our pioneer students into the Eastwing Aviation Institute family.
“This momentous occasion signals the beginning of an exciting journey, filled with discovery, growth, and transformation,” Edeh said.
He commended the 13 matriculants for choosing the institute as their gateway to a rewarding career in aviation.
He said that during their studies, they would be provided with world-class training facilities and a supportive environment that fosters excellence.
Edeh acknowledged the high cost of studying aeronautics and appealed to Nigerians to support scholarship scheme to enable more students, who have the talent and skills but lacked the resources, to pursue their dream in aviation.
The Registrar of the institute, Nnamdi Hojo, said the aviation sector was neither large nor loud but a very reserved and specialised sector.
He said the school was adequately equipped for aviation training and professionals in the field to help facilitate the learning and growth of the students.
“The school equally has about six professors in different sectors of aviation with master degree holders to make sure we give them the best for being our pioneer students.
“Students who are interested in obtaining knowledge in the aviation field, there is no need to travel outside the country for that, as we will give you the best knowledge in the aviation field at a very affordable rate,” Hojo said.
A parent, Mrs Chinagorom Wogbo, said she was excited that her son was admitted in the institute.
Wogbo said she got to know about the institute on the internet, adding that her son’s insistence on studying aeronautics made her enrol him at the institute.
“We got to know about the school through the internet because my son was bent on doing aeronautics.
“We need to help him out but before this, he gained admission to the Lagos University.
“But because of his age; we didn’t want him to go far from us, we started making research until we found out that we have Eastwing Aviation Institute in Enugu.
“I am very satisfied with the school and didn’t know that this kind of institution is now in the South-East. It is quite the best,” Wogbo said.
A student, Wisdom Adiele, said: “I feel so special and different being here because the lecturers do their best to ensure the students know everything they should about aircraft.
“I feel excited that today is our matriculation.”
Supreme News reports that the institute is the first privately-owned aviation institute in Nigeria, approved by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority.
It also obtained approval from the National Board for Technical Education to admit science students that meet the cut off mark of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board.
The school will train students in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Technology to the National Diploma and Higher National Diploma levels.
