Mr Gerald Asogwa, the General Manager (GM), Enugu State Housing Corporation (ESHDC), has directed for a halt on excavation going on at Loma Linda Estate, pending its investigation.

The excavation, he said, was out of the master plan of the estate.

Asogwa stated this in a statement by ESHDC’s Public Relations Officer, Onyinye Onu, on Saturday in Enugu.

The general manager said it was when he embarked on a fact-finding tour to the estate that he discovered there was an alleged illegal structure that was to be erected in that estate.

Asogwa, who moved around the estate with his management team, wondered who could have allotted the space for such building because the spot was for open green space meant as car park.

“It is in direct violation of the Enugu State plan for the estate which was originally meant for a parking space and why should they now allocate it for someone?

“Please notify whoever is in charge of this estate that there should be no more excavation here. Let the people close all the excavation untill the approval is shown to us,” he said.

He explained that he was briefed that someone was claiming to have obtained allocation paper.

“But I am ordering that work should discontinue pending when evidence will be provided.

“The important thing is that in the meantime, you stop work here pending further investigation on this matter to know what transpired within them and whoever allocated this plot to them,” the GM said.

He directed the purported allottee to forward copies of his allocation papers, receipts of payment, and his drawing to the office of the Director Planning, ESHDC on or before Sept. 14.
