Professor Ibrahim Adamu Yakasai of Bayero University in Kano State, who is an electoral officer in the 2017 General Elections, has admitted to sending fraudulent results to the National Collation Centre in Abuja.

He said that the report he presented to Independent National Electoral Commission Chairman Mahmood Yakubu was fabricated.

In a letter to the INEC Chairman, he explained that his collation centre was entirely surrounded by thugs who threatened to torch the INEC building if he didn't declare the results within an hour.

"I was the Election Officer for the 2023 Tudun Wada/Doguwa House of Representatives elections, and the results I announced on February 26, 2023 were fraudulent," he stated.

He continued, "I would like to testify that the statement I made was made under duress out of fear for my life and the lives of other INEC officials who were present with me."

"The collation area was completed while under siege, and I was threatened with arson if I did not submit the result within an hour.

"Being fully frightened, despondent, and bewildered prevented me from working in accordance with the election legislation and electoral instructions".

On the outskirts, the number of registered voters in areas or polling stations where elections were cancelled did not compare to the overall number of accredited voters.

He stated that because to this heated atmosphere, he and his colleagues "were unable to address the allegations of the non-use of BVAS in several polling locations.

I hope that my testimony will be kindly examined and that the necessary action will be taken under Section 65 of the Elections Act 2022.”
