Imo hoteliers chair says IHTEF award call to greater service
He thanked IHTEF’s Executive Director, Mr Chibuikem Diala, for his insight and proactive leadership style which, he said, contributed greatly to the success of the conference.
The Chairman, Imo chapter of the Nigerian Hoteliers Association, Mr. Chima Chukwunyere, has described his recent award as Best Hotel Association Leader (South-East) as a call to greater service.
Chukwunyere said this during an interactive session with newsmen in Owerri on Tuesday.
He was reacting to the award presented to him by the organisers of the seventh International Hospitality, Tourism, and Eco-Sustainability Forum (IHTEF) conference, held on April 24 and 25 in Abuja.
He thanked IHTEF’s Executive Director, Mr. Chibuikem Diala, for his insight and proactive leadership style, which, he said, contributed greatly to the success of the conference.
He pledged continued commitment to advancing the course of the tourism industry in Imo and Nigeria at large.
“I dedicate this award to God Almighty, my family, and the entire hotel industry in Imo, and I thank the organisers of the seventh IHTEF conference for finding me worthy of the honour.
“Despite the many challenges of the industry in Imo, ranging from multiple taxes to the outrageous costs of maintaining the hotels, I pledge to continue to protect the rights of hoteliers in my jurisdiction and ensure that they are not intimidated,” he said.
