Late election materials worry voters in Katsina
Adamu expressed the hope that the delay would not affect the credibility of the election.
Voters in Malumfashi, Katsina State have expressed concern over non arrival of election materials and officials at most polling centres as at about 9:30am.
The voters told the News Agency of Nigeria that though some of them arrived before 8am, they were still awaiting the arrival of the election officers.
At Galadima Model Primary School, a centre with six polling units, large turnout of voters was recorded but without voting materials as at 9:25am.
One of the voters, Malam Abubakar Adamu, said they have been waiting for INEC officials since before 8 a.m.
“It is disappointing, but we will wait to exercise our franchise,” he said.
Adamu expressed the hope that the delay would not affect the credibility of the election.
Another voter, Malama Halima Kabir, said no matter the delay, she would wait to cast her vote.
Supreme reports that officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were absent across many polling units in Malumfashi.
At Tinau Primary School collation centre, NAN observed that INEC officials were busy distributing the election materials as at at about 9:40am.
At Dr Asma’u Dodo Girls Primary School, another centre with seven polling units, INEC officials were seen as at 9:50 a.m putting the election materials in order for the commencement of accreditation and voting.
There was adequate deployment of security personnel in all the polling units visited.
