Lawmaker assists victims of Zamfara windstorm

According to him, eight of them would receive N100,000 each, with 10 getting N50,000 each while the remaining 53 victims would get N30,000 each.

Rep. Abdulmalik Zubairu (APC, Bungudu/Maru) donated cash on Sunday to victims of the windstorm that recently hit Kura Community in Bungudu Local Government of Zamfara.


Supreme News reports that the windstormdestroyed several houses and public buildings.

Zubairu, while presenting the assistance to the victims, said the gesture was to support them and cushion the effects of the disaster.

“I am working toward securing additional assistance to the victims from the Federal Government,” he said.

Zubairu, who was represented by former Special Adviser to Zamfara government on emergency management, Alhaji Musa Kwatarkwashi, said that 71 persons were affected by the disaster.

According to him, eight of them would receive N100,000 each, with 10 getting N50,000 each, while the remaining 53 victims would get N30,000 each.

In their separate remarks, the District Head of Sankalawa, Alhaji Lawali Sama’ila, and Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sankalawa Ward, Alhaji Sani Kabiru, commended the lawmaker for the gesture.
