Mr Ibu, veteran Nollywood actor, is died
The news of his death comes less than 24 hours after the demise of Quadri Oyebamiji popularly known as Sisi Quadri, another Veteran Nollywood Actor.
Mr Ibu, a Nollywood veteran, died. The actor, whose true name is John Okarfor, was 62.
According to various accounts from persons close to him, the legendary comic died at Evercare Hospital. Many admirers expressed their condolences on X, recalling films in which the late actor appeared.
Details about the cause of death and the authenticity of these reports remain unknown. Mr. Ibu's family and representatives have yet to respond publicly.
The actor had been suffering health concerns since October 2023, and he had endured many surgeries that resulted in the amputation of his limb. However, updates from his family in November suggested that he was recuperating.
The news of his death came less than 24 hours after that of Quadri Oyebamiji, also known as Sisi Quadri, a veteran Nollywood actor.
In 2019, Mr. Ibu claimed that his kinsmen paid some of his domestic workers to poison him due of his successful profession.
For the third time in May 2022, the comic actor claimed to have been poisoned.
In an interview with Vanguard Newspaper, Okafor revealed that he was already "seeing people on the other side" before God restored him back to life.
He stated, "My illness was caused by individuals who despise me. They did exactly what they did to me. Later, I was sent to the hospital. Doctors are prophets. So they went into my system and told me what was wrong and what they intended to do. I begged, "Whatever you're going to do, please do it; let me live because if I die like this, my enemies will laugh." The physicians then responded, 'Okay, there's no problem.
However, some prominent Nollywood stars have lit lights in his honour to mourn the actor.
