Police nab 25 suspected thugs in Kaduna

The Police Command in Kaduna has arrested 25 suspects for alleged thuggery in the state.

The suspects were arrested by operatives of the command under the newly established Anti Social Vices Unit in a renewed campaign to curb thuggery and vices.

The Spokesman of the command, Mr Mansir Hassan, an ASP, stated this in a statement on Wednesday in Kaduna.

According to Hassan, the establishment of the unit is imperative to stem thuggery, phone and handbags snatching as well as drug related offences.

He said the unit has since begun operation in synergy with the police divisions and other formations, to enhance peace and security in the state.

“The Anti Vices Unit has since started operating, and will be liaising with all the divisions to diligently handle cases of thuggery, phone snatching, drug and illicit substance consumption and peddling, possessing dangerous weapons, etc.

“No fewer than 25 suspects have been arrested across the metropolis in relation to the aforesaid offences with 16 among them arrested within Rigasa axis, and charged for thuggery and possession of dangerous weapons,” he said.

The statement quoted the Commissioner of Police, Ali Daviji, as tasking the personnel to make the state safe by continuously denying the urchins breathing space.

The Commissioner also enjoined parents and guardians to warn their wards against acts of delinquency.
