The Special Adviser to Kebbi Governor on New Media, Alhaji Aliyu Bandado-Argungu, has warned social media influencers to strictly guard against disseminating fake news.

He also cautioned them against posting controversial materials on the net.

The governor’s aid gave the warning in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday when the Forum of Special Assistants on New Media, Birnin Kebbi Local Government Chapter, paid him a courtesy visit.

”Avoid negativity, shun fake news, and unverified items capable of causing disaffection in society or undermining law and order.

”Disseminate good and factual news that will facilitate unity, understanding, and social and economic growth of the nation,” he advised.

The governor’s aid reminded them that Gov. Nasir Idris appointed them as his special assistants to be active stakeholders in good governance and service delivery.

“You must therefore execute your mandate with diligence; always promote the policies and programs of the administration; this is your primary assignment,” Bandado-Argungu urged.

Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Alhaji Muhammad Tukur, commended Bandado-Argungu for his incisive and purposeful leadership of New Media Practice in the state.

“Sir, you are performing to the satisfaction of your calling as the vanguard of social media practice of the government.

”We are proud of you; we shall continue to follow your footstep and copy from your wisdom,” Tukur said.
