Education Minister Tahir Mamman has stated that security personnel will target Nigerians who have obtained fake certifications from outside and are utilising them to obtain employment possibilities within the nation.

During her appearance as a guest on Channels Television's Politics Today programme on Wednesday, Mamman described those who behaved in this way as offenders rather than victims. "I don't feel sorry for these folks. Rather, the minister stated firmly, "They belong in the criminal chain and should be arrested."

"If there are people already in the system, we can track them down the line. For example, if a specific operator or institution has been in operation for, say, the last ten years, we will see whether we can obtain information of Nigerians who attended that particular institution.

"Once we take that action, they become criminals, and as you are aware, crime has no expiration date. We'll track them down. When asked what would happen to Nigerians who already had forged foreign certifications in the system, Mamman replied, "As long as we can lay our hands on their institutions and they are right here with us, certainly, the security agencies will go after them because they are criminals."

The minister added that degree certifications from more nations, including Kenya, Uganda, and the Niger Republic, would be suspended by the Federal Government.

"We won't confine our efforts to Benin and Togo. We intend to expand the dragnet to include nations with established institutions, such as Uganda, Kenya, and possibly Niger.
