Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta says the state government is planning to redesign the Effurun Roundabout to a cloverleaf to ease traffic at the corridor.

Oborevwori disclosed this to newsmen on Sunday shortly after inspecting the ongoing flyover project at PTI Junction in Uvwie Local Government Area of the state.

Supreme News reports that the project was awarded by Oborevwori’s administration to Julius Berger PLC.

He said both Julius Berger and the state government were working out modalities on how to carry out the redesigning and remodelling of the roundabout.

According to the governor, without agreeing on the actual design of the roundabout, work on the road expansion will not commence.

Speaking on the ongoing flyover project, the governor said he was impressed with the job done so far.

He also expressed optimism that Julius Berger would deliver the job in record time.

“I am impressed with the work they have done so far. I told you at inception that the job duration is 27 months.

“As long as we are paying them monthly, they will be able to keep up with the time they gave to us.

“I usually pass here, and I know they will keep to the 27-month completion period they gave the Delta Government,” he said.

The governor also commended Julius Berger for effectively managing traffic flow around the construction corridor with the creation of diversions outside the construction area.

“The other obstacle to the construction work is the contract awarded to Transcorp Power for the relocation of high tension at PTI junction.

According to him, with 10 pilings done so far at the junction, every other thing to relocate the high tension has been imported.
