The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) has assured Project-Affected Persons (PAP) on Phase 1 of the Quality Bus Corridor (QBC) project that government will only take the minimal space required for construction.

Mr Olufemi Fayombo, Deputy Director, Roads & Infrastructure Department, LAMATA, made the assertion on Tuesday in Lagos, at a stakeholders engagement with residents potentially impacted by the project.

Fayombo said that the minimal space required for construction would be based on the approved design.

“This engagement session comes ahead of the project’s kick-off between quarter 2 and quarter 3 of 2024.

“The QBC initiative aims to improve public transportation by rehabilitating existing bus stops, introducing walkways to promote non motorised transport, and implementing an Intelligent Transport System (ITS).

“QBC 1 focuses on the Yaba, Lawanson, Ijesha, and Cele corridors, covering a distance of 8.6 kilometers,” he said.

During the meeting held at the Mushin Local Government, the Managing Director, Global Impact, Dr Babatunde Osho, said that the revalidation and valuation process for the project affected residents would begin on May 24.
