Some suspected terrorists named “Lakurawa” had on Friday attacked Mera community in Augie local government, when Muslims in the community were preparing for Jumuat prayer.

The residents of Augie Local Government Area of Kebbi, have lauded Gov. Nasir Idris, for his swift action towards fishing out the perpetrators of Nov. 7, attack on Mera community in Augie Local Government Area of the state.

The governor’s efforts, he said, had let to the establishment of a joint security forces to fish out the bandits in the area.

The Chairman of Augie Local Government, Alhaji Yahaya Mohammed-Augie, gave the commendation while addressing newsmen in Birnin Kebbi on Wednesday.

He appreciated the support given to the security agencies by the state governor, describing it as ‘result-oriented’.

The chairman also commended the efforts of the Nigeria Army and other security agencies for their efforts to arrest and prosecute the suspected bandits in the area.

Supreme News reports that some suspected terrorists named “Lakurawa” had on Friday attacked Mera community in Augie local government, when Muslims in the community were preparing for Jumuat prayer.

The group, suspected to have infiltrated into Nigeria from Mali through Niger Republic, killed 17 people in the community in the Friday attack.

On his part, AbdurRahman Zagga, Director of Security, Cabinet Office, confirmed that the joint security forces were already in the bush trailing the culprits.

He appreciated the efforts of Gov. Idris, for providing all the necessary logistic support to the security agencies to ensure success of the operation.

Zagga said that a meeting was held with all the chairmen of the affected LGAs, security agencies, traditional and community leaders and other stakeholders on Monday, with a view to providing a lasting solution to the state.

”We are happy, the delegation sent to the CDS by Gov. Idris is yielding fruitful results. The military troops with other security agencies are currently in the bush pursuing the suspected terrorists, so far, 38 stolen cows have been recovered.

”The troops arrived on Monday together with their colleagues from Dukku barracks in Birnin Kebbi, and have immediately swung into action.

”By the grace of God, they will succeed in fishing out the culprits and bringing them to the book. Kebbi government will not rest until these people are brought to account,” director assured.
