Civil Defence Day: Kano NSCDC reaffirms commitment to public safety

This year’s theme is “Civil Defence, Guarantee of Security for the Population”.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, has reiterated its commitment to public safety and protection of critical assets.

The State Commandant, Mr Shafi’u Abdulmumini, gave the assurance on Saturday in Kano while speaking after a public awareness road walk to mark the 2025 International Civil Defence Day.

This year’s theme is “Civil Defence, Guarantee of Security for the Population”.

Abdulmumini said the command remained alert to its mandate.

“We will redouble efforts in protecting critical national assets and infrastructure, while ensuring safety of lives and property,” he assured.

Abdulmumini, who spoke on the critical role being played by the corps in maintaining law and order, said the awareness walk was aimed to educate the public on its role and the need for more support.

He said that the events lined up for the civil defence day which includes special prayers in Mosques and Churches was also aimed to raise awareness about disaster preparedness, and prevention, and encourage community participation in emergency response.

“We have already observed the Muslim special prayer at the Kwankwasiyya city Juma’at Mosque on Friday.

“The prayer was led by the Chief Imam of the Mosque, Sheikh Habibu Dan-Almajiri, who sought divine guidance, strength and protection for the corps’ personnel in the discharge of their duties.

“A similar Church service is scheduled for Sunday, March 2,” the commandant said.
