Mr Bello Goronyo, Minister of State for Works, says the Federal Government has embarked on reconstruction of Zaria-Funtua-Sokoto road to rejuvenate social and economic activities in the country.

Goronyo stated this on Wednesday when he inspected the ongoing road project, stressing that it would positively impact on the lives of citizens.

He explained that the road did not only link different states, but also neighbouring countries, enhancing transborder socioeconomic activities and attracting huge revenue to the nation.

The minister expressed satisfaction with the level of progress so far in the ongoing construction work, especially at Sokoto and Zamfara states axis.

He noted that the road project was initiated under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu aimed at enhancing security and wellbeing of the people.

According to him, the Federal Read Maintenance Agency (FERMA) had also embarked on road repairs to ease movement of people and goods.

Goronyo urged vehicle owners and other road users to safeguard the roads and cautioned them against any form of activities that might damage the road.

He explained that government spent huge amount of money on road construction and rehabilitation, hence the need for collective efforts to safeguard such important public infrastructure.

In his speech, the Managing Director of FERMA, Dr Emeka Agbasi, said the projects were awarded to enhance the condition of the road for public use, adding that the repairs were part of FERMA’s mandate.

Agbasi commended the minister for his determination to actualise President Bola Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda of transforming the country.
