Work, schools resume after Eid-el-Maulud, holiday

The importance of the Eid is the celebration of the leader of our faith, Prophet Mohammed, and a reflection on our faith and love for humanity.

Government workers, banks and schools in Osun on Tuesday resumed work after the public holiday declared on Monday for the celebration of Eid-el-Maulud, the newsmen reports.

The newsmen reports that the Federal Government had declared Monday Sept. 16, Public holiday for Muslims in the country to mark the 2024 Eid-el-Maulud.

The correspondent observed that banks in Osogbo, the state capital, opened for business transactions and customers were seen going in and out of the banks.

Also, schools that were scheduled to open for a new academic year on Monday, rescheduled and opened on Tuesday, and teachers and pupils in uniform were seen on major roads rushing to school.

At the State and Federal Government secretariats in Osogbo, workers were seen reporting for duties at their various offices as early as 7:25 a.m.

The Osun House of Assembly also opened while commercial transporters were actively conveying workers and other passengers to their various destinations.

Mrs Idayat Salami, a staff of the state House of Assembly said that it was expected that workers returned to work after any public holiday.

“We thank God for the gift of life and most importantly to be alive to celebrate another Eid-el-Maulud.

“The importance of the Eid is the celebration of the leader of our faith, Prophet Mohammed, and a reflection on our faith and love for humanity.

“I thank God for the opportunity to witness it and pray Allah help our government navigate and solve the economic challenges Nigerians are passing through.” Salami said
