Zamfara Rep. bags Doctorate Degree from Iheris varsity, Togo
Rep. Abdulmalik Zubairu (APC-Zamfara) has been conferred with a Doctorate Degree (Honoris Causa) in Diplomacy and International Relations by the Iheris University, Lome in the Republic of Togo.
This is contained in a statement issued in Gusau on Monday by the Technical Assistant on Strategy, Media and Communications Office to the lawmaker, Malam Aminu Lawal.
Presenting the certificate of conferment to the lawmaker, Pro-Chancellor of the University Prof. Adamu Gwarzo, said Zubairu was considered for the award for impacting positively on the lives of people he represents.
Gwarzo, assisted by the Registrar of the university, Dr Adamu Wakili, said other factors considered for the award were the lawmaker’s contribution to education, empowerment, humanitarian and social services to the community.
He said, “The university was aware of the lawmaker’s contributions to the development of education in Zamfara and Nigeria in general.
“We are aware that Hon. Zubairu sponsored dozens of bills within 100 days in office and how he became instrumental to securing job opportunities to many unemployed youths through establishment of self dependent businesses.
“We call on the lawmaker to sustained the impact bearing representation he was known for.
“We are going to collaborating with the lawmaker in offering scholarship to indigenes of his constituency and Zamfara State particularly those from lesspriviledged families.”
Speaking shortly after his conferment, Zubairu appreciated the university for finding him worthy of the award.
The lawmaker announced a donation of N60,000 to each of the 70 undergraduate students from Zamfara studying various in disciplines in the institution.
Zubairu promised to invest more in ensuring the successful completion of their studies, addvising the students to respect the laws of their host country.
The lawmaker was supported by the Nigerian Ambassador to the Republic of Togo, Mr Stephen Odigan and some of his topnotch constituents.
