Iyabo Ojo reacts as popular Lagos socialite rescued after attempting to commit suicide

Thursday night, Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo responded to socialite Farida Sobowale's suicide attempt.

According to the actress, she had been on the phone with Sobowale for some time but was unaware that the Lagos socialite and CEO of House of Phreeda was planning to take her own life.

Iyabo prayed for Sobowale as well, adding that things would soon improve.

Thursday evening, Sobowale attempted suicide on the Third Mainland Bridge.

She drove her Lexus SUV to the bridge and was about to plunge into the Lagoon when some men stopped her.

In the now-viral video, Sobowale was seen clad in black and crying as men restrained and consoled her to prevent her from committing the crime.

Iyabo's post read, "Hmmmm, my dear, if I had known you were contemplating this, I wouldn't have hung up the phone with you.

"You obviously knew what you wanted to do, but you diverted my focus elsewhere. Story for when we see you (since you are not going anywhere).

"Thank God for the individuals who arrived just in time to save the situation; God bless them. My dearest, this will undoubtedly pass, the sun will return, and tomorrow will be better than today, but for now, just breathe.

"I adore you immensely. Please be courageous. I will pray for you."

Two months ago, Sobowale and Demola's wedding in Lagos was the talk of the town, and now there are rumours that their marriage has ended.

Farida later revealed the complex chain of events that led to her agonising decision to end her life, revealing that her husband had promised her certain things before their N100 million wedding, but left her profoundly wounded by his betrayal.
