Nigerian fashion designer Yeside Laguda unveiled her new indigenous clothing collection tagged “BÌLÈ”, in Lagos on Sunday.

Laguda, daughter of the immediate past Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, went a step further in upholding indigenous fabrics with a display of no fewer than 29 designed outfits.

The outfits were designed with local fabrics like Adire, Aso-Oke, and Ankara.

The display revealed Laguda’s height of creativity and versed knowledge in the fashion industry.

Models adorned with the outfits walked the runway to the amazement and entertainment of the audience.

Earlier, Laguda said that ÌBÌLÈ, which means indigenous, was showcased to tell the African story in the fashion world.

“So, what we have done with BÌLÈ is that we are telling our African story as Africans. Nobody can tell our stories like us.

“We have made clothes with ankara, aso-oke, and adire, employing hand beading and embroidery,” she said.

Laguda appreciated Eco Bank for consistently supporting the creation of visibility for Adire fabric and generally promoting African culture.

Dignitaries at the programme included Alhaji Lai Mohammed; Nigerian socialite and managing director of Eleganza Group, Shade Okoya; and a host of others.
