- New Year: Fun seekers...
Fun seekers on Wednesday thronged the Elegushi Private Beach Resort in Lagos in celebration of the New Year.
Supreme news reports that the different beaches in the resort were filled with holiday makers seeking to enjoy the holidays in spite of the economic challenges.
Some of them, who spoke with NAN, expressed gratitude for being alive, hale and hearty to see the new year.
One of them, a businessman, Mr Tosin, said he was out to be happy with family and friends.
“2024 was a challenging year; in spite of that, we still have to live and so I came to the beach with friends and family to have some fun.
“My expectations moving forward in 2025 is to grow financially and also in my relationships with others in the society, “ he said.
Another holiday maker, Ms Mercy Samuel, said, though, she regularly visited the beach, yet it was always a fun-filled experience for her.
“I came here today because of my cousins; they wanted to visit the beach because they have never been to the beach before. So, this is their first experience.
“I have been coming here for years. So I just want them to have the experience and have fun.
“I still have fun in spite of the economic situation; for me, I do not allow the situation to affect my fun times; it is necessary to have fun for one’s mental health, and health generally,” Samuel said.
Also, a student, Ezekiel Obasanmi, said he loved having fun as it was a way of moving away from the stresses of life.
“We have no choice, but to remain happy; the New Year holiday is an opportunity for families to come together to enjoy life given to us by God.
“I am most grateful to be alive to see the new year; it is a privilege and a testimony that I am part of those to see 2025.
“We hope for a brighter future for the country and the leadership will do more to develop the economy for the benefit of Nigerians,” Obasanmi said.
NAN visited some of the beaches in the resort including Wave Beach, Royal Beach among others, and they were filled with fun seekers dancing, reveling along the water shores with family and friends.
Some sat on mats placed on the sand, having picnics with family and friends, while the music played in the background.
