Brazil and United States (U.S.) have agreed to create a working group to discuss the deportation of irregular immigrants, the Brazilian Foreign Ministry said.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of the U.S. in Brasilia reached an agreement at a meeting held on Wednesday to create a working group to exchange information.

“This will help to improve the repatriation process of Brazilians, while ensuring their safety, dignified and respectful treatment,’’ the ministry said.

Brazilian authourities had criticised the U.S. for deporting Brazilian citizens in handcuffs, calling it a violation of their rights.

U.S. President Donald Trump made a promise during his inauguration address to immediately stop the flow of undocumented immigrants into the U.S. and begin the process of extraditing millions of criminal aliens.

He declared a national emergency over the situation at the southern border with Mexico.
