The Imo Leadership In Diaspora Forum Worldwide, a sociocultural group, has called for more proactive measures to preserve the cultural heritage of Imo and the Igbo people at large.

The President-General of the group, Chief Sampson Udeh made the call while addressing newsmen in Owerri, on Friday.

Supreme news reports that the group is comprised of civil society and other organisations in Imo that have active presence in more than 40 countries.

Udeh, a former President of the Imo Congress of America, said that with the level of emigration, it had become pertinent to seek ways to preserve the Igbo culture.

He said the group would develop actionable strategies for sustainable progress of Imo and other places.

This, he said, is scheduled to take place at a diaspora summit in January 2025.

“ Our organisation is dedicated to addressing the economic challenges facing ndi Imo and proffering solutions.

“ The summit with the theme: ALA IMO GA-DI NMA’, will focus on economic growth, preservation of cultural heritage, the role of Imo people in the diaspora in contributing to the development of the state and the need for adequate security in our dear Imo.

“The summit promotes economic growth and development in Imo State, fosters collaboration between diasporans through their leaders, Imo State Government and stakeholders and develops actionable strategies for sustainable progress.

“Economic growth and development of Imo, preservation of her rich powerful cultural heritage and traditions and role of Imo people in diaspora in contributing to the development of Imo will form part of the major discussion at the meeting,” he said.
