Hamzat emphasised the need for clerics to understand the influence of AI on humanity.

Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, has urged religious leaders to harness the power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to propagate their faith.

Hamzat gave the advice at the Fourth Annual Ramadan Lecture/Iftar and Special Prayer in Memory of the Late Oba Mufutau Hamzat at Mushin, Lagos.

The event, organised by Rep. Moses Fayinka from Mushin Constituency 2, aimed to celebrate the legacies the late Oba Mufutau Hamzat, the father of the deputy governor.

Hamzat emphasised the need for clerics to understand the influence of AI on humanity.

He urged religious leaders to make their members to understand AI’s influence on humanity and how to live with the technology while remaining religious and godly.

He said that AI had advanced significantly and religious leaders must find ways to utilise it to spread their messages.

According to him, humans are, however, controlled by God, not machines.

Hamzat also emphasised the importance of honouring one’s parents even in death, saying that it helped to preserve their legacies.

Earlier, Fayinka urged Muslims to co-exist peacefully with others and extend love to everyone, irrespective of his or her faith.

He noted that Islam taught that all humans were created by Allah and belonged to one family.

He said that he was motivated to sustain the annual event because Ramadan period was a time to seek forgiveness and appreciate the love and goodness of God to mankind.

Fayinka described the late Oba as a leader and a champion of unity.

According to him, his commitment to serving people, irrespective of their backgrounds and beliefs, left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

In a lecture entitled: “Justice”, Sheikh Almudeen Mubarak, implored Nigerians to treat one another equally and fairly.
