Rep. Rurum constructs ICT centres to empower youths.

This empowerment programme is part of my efforts to support the development of my constituents, particularly the youth.

Rep. Alhassan Rurum ( NNPP Kano) has constructed three ICT centers in a bid to enhance digital literacy and socio-economic development of the youths.


Rurum, who is also the Chairman, House Committee on Air Force, told newsmen at Rurum on Wednesday that the projects would create job opportunities for youths in the area.


He said the initiative was aimed at bridging the digital divide to create opportunities for the youths in his constituency.


Rurum, representing Rano, Kibiya, and Bunkure in the House of Representatives, said that the three towns under his constituency got one of the centres.

He explained that each of the centres was installed with 150 sets of computers to serve 500 youths.


According to him, in this era of globalization, computer literacy is very important to the growth and development of any society.


’’It is in realization of all these realities that I established the ICT centres to impart computer knowledge to our youths.’’


Rurum said that the centers would provide training for 1,500 youths, equipping them with essential ICT skills to thrive in today’s technology-driven world.


“By acquiring ICT skills, these youths will be better positioned to compete in the job market, start their own businesses, and contribute positively to the socio-economic development of their communities.


“This empowerment programme is part of my efforts to support the development of my constituents, particularly the youth.


“As a member of the House of Representatives, I have been actively involved in promoting initiatives that enhance the quality of life of my constituents,” the lawmaker added
