The Ministry of Health and Social Welfare has emerged as the overall best-performing Ministry, Department, and Agency (MDA) at the SERVICOM end-of-year award.

The Deputy Director, Media and Public Relations, Mr Alaba Balogun, made this known in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja.

He also mentioned that the ministry received three additional distinguished awards: the Special Recognition Award, Most Innovative in Team A, and Best Performing in Team A, in addition to being named the Overall Best Performing MDA.

Balogun further said that at the award ceremony, the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Pate, described public service as being rooted in purpose, driven by commitment, and focused on results.

He dedicated the awards to Nigerians and to President Bola Tinubu for providing the enablement to serve.

Pate described the moment as humbling and emphasised that the four awards were not just an acknowledgment of effort but a declaration that “our collective work, our systems, and early results are making a real difference.”

He said these awards were a symbol of unwavering commitment to excellence in service delivery and to the promise we strive to fulfil every single day.

“They are a testament to the dedication of all my colleagues, former Minister of State, Dr Tunji Alausa, now Minister of Education, my colleague, Mr Iziaq Salako, the Permanent Secretary, Directors, and SERVICOM teams.

“They also reflect the hard work of heads of agencies and hospitals, regulatory bodies, and all the great staff within the ministry.”

Pate noted that the award recognised the ministry’s sustained drive to connect the government to citizens and to improve lives through quality service delivery in the country.

“It is a validation of the processes we have strengthened through the Sector-Wide Approach (SWAp),the enabling catalyst that has aligned efforts across government, development partners, and other stakeholders to drive meaningful change.”

However, Pate stated that these recognitions also challenged the ministry to do even more innovate further, deepen collaboration with all stakeholders, and ensure that no Nigerian was left behind in the pursuit of improved healthcare quality.
