An Area Court sitting at Centre-Igboro, Ilorin, on Thursday dissolved the Islamic marriage between Jimoh Kauthar and Jimoh Bashir based on their agreement.

The Presiding Judge, Hammad Ajumonbi, while delivering ruling, said that the husband sent a consent letter to the court, agreeing to the divorce application of his wife.

Ajumonbi read out the letter which said “l , Jimoh Bashir have released Jimoh Kauthar and left the child in her custody. I will be paying N10,000 monthly for maintenance and feeding”.

The judge, thereby, dissolved the Islamic marriage between the two parties and ordered that the woman should observe three months iddah (waiting) period before she could remarry again.

He granted the mother custody of the only child in the marriage and said that the father had unrestricted access to his child.

Ajunmobi also ordered that the father should pay N10,000 monthly for feeding and maintenance of the child and be responsible for the child’s school fees and health services.

Earlier, the wife had applied for divorce, custody and maintenance, saying that she was tired of the marriage.
